Archive guide
What does
“verified” mean?
The label refers to the source record, not a real-time check of a place.
Reading a record
When source material is accepted into the index, the record receives an acceptance date and a publication label. The label may remain attached to archived information after the business details have changed.
- Source reference
- The identifier attached to supplied material.
- Source accepted
- The date material entered the index.
- Verified
- The supplied material met the archive’s intake requirements.
- Open
- The operating status recorded in that source material.
Does “open” mean the business is open today?
No. An archive label may reflect an earlier source date. Contact the business directly before visiting.
Can I request the underlying source?
Use the contact page and include the record identifier. Access depends on the material available and any restrictions attached to it.
How do I submit a correction?
Select “Listing correction” on the contact page. Include the place name and a description of the information you want reviewed.
